7 Things that happened in January, Number 5 will make you cry.

1. Coronavirus: According to World Health Organization’s definition, they are simply a family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as SARS and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). It has killed 259 people in China. Countries are alert to curtail its widespread.

2. Brexit: United Kingdom has withdrawn from European Union.

3. Iran: Iran unintentionally shot down Ukrainian plane, resulting to the death of 176 people.

4. Kobe Bryant: Legendary American professional basketball player died in a helicopter crash. His death was globally felt as millions paid tributes even those who never heard of him before.

5. Natural disasters:

i. Australia was ravaged by wildfire resulting to the death of humans and animals. It destroyed buildings as well.

ii. Brazil : Floods and landslide ravaged places like Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, resulting to many deaths and displacement.

 iii. Indonesia: Heavy downpour caused flash flood in Indonesian capital and nearby towns resulting to death of 30 people, forcing many to leave their homes.

iv. Turkey: A powerful earthquake stuck in eastern Turkish province of Elazig, leading to the death of her citizens and destruction of buildings.

 v. Pakistan: Harsh weather and flooding ravaged Pakistan including Afghanistan killing more than 130 people.

6. Trump impeachment trial – Donald Trump was impeached in December, however, the vote that would warrant subsequent trial having witnesses testify failed.

7. Middle East peace plan: A plan to resolve the conflict between Libya and Syria.
