Are you one of those who think Nigeria is a country which doesn't have strange findings or historical artifact that the world is in search of? If you are then I officially welcome you to this write up. The world itself isn't a place that is filled with silence, there are mysterious places on earth that have left people in awe, from the Grand Canyon in America to the Bermuda triangle in the North Atlantic Ocean region of South America, findings keep on appearing and it seems the more we live in a new age the more findings we keep on receiving.
So, I'm sure that I've officially welcomed you to this write up. Now we are going to look at the strange places in Nigeria alone which have attracted the hearts of many tourists from around the globe. Not to lie but if these places aren't new to you, then you really love making researches or you live close to every one of them but anyways, I've just made my research and I'm excited to reveal what I have in store for us today. I'm going to start the count down of the top four mysterious places in Nigeria from the most mysterious to the least mysterious.
1. The miracle stream in Enugu
For Christians, this reminds me of the pool in which people go in and bath in order to be cleansed from any infirmities or diseases. I'm also shocked that there's a healing stream here in the capital of Enugu state. It received visitors at its peak in the month of November 2013. It was found during the dry season in Nachi community in Udi local government. The mysterious river surfaced 42 years ago. The river was discovered by some herdsmen who went patrolling with their cattles and guess what, the healing river suddenly disappeared just the way it came. Lots of healings were recorded and several people gave testimonies. It's not to late to check it out though.
2. The Osun-oshogbo Sacred Grove
With such an image like this children can have night mares, I'm telling you. When I came across this picture I was confused and couldn't tell if it was artificially made or nature made but thanks to my research, you're about to find out.
It is located in Oshogbo Osun state, I know it's pretty obvious, found in the outskirts and one of the last forest in Southern Nigerian. In the Grove lives the goddess of fertility, so all women take note, there's nothing that God can't do, no need for this one. She is unseen and because of that people can't see her but her voice can be heard calling the names of people.
It is the last Grove in the Yoruba land which is surrounded by sculptures and other shrine equipments. It's unbelievable but believe me, this place is real. It's an amazing place to discover.
3. The shrine of Arochukwu.
I'm very sorry if you're tired of seeing shrines but don't be tired of reading what I've discovered, I've worked for it.
Now this juju shrine of arochukwu was discovered in ages by the indigenous people of Igbo locality. I discovered that it once served as a high court to the people in igbo land where oblation rites were performed for the great spirit whom his presence is filled in the cave. This became a vast religion in the igbo land that it massively extended before it was brought down by the British people. This place isn't just mysterious but a place that needs to be visited once in a while, it has received lots of tourists from around the globe and it's still receiving till date, you could be one.
4. The Nok settlement.
There's no place that you'll go to that you wouldn't hear about Nok. To be honest, the first place I heard about Nok was in primary school during our fine and applied arts lessons.
The Nok people lived in the southern part of Kaduna state in Nigeria. They were the only ones advanced with the most complex terracotta back in the late 500BC. What made the Nok people famous was their skilled artifacts. Archaeologist were marveled at how the Nok people carved such amazing sculptures although civilization hadn't come to West Africa as of then.
All these might be amazing to the eyes but the mystery is that since then, there haven't been a trace of any people from the Nok settlement as of 200AD. The total settlement have been completely wiped out from history. So there's no trace of even one human being from the same clan of the Nok, this is another research I have to accomplish. The Nok people are unique and the way they were able to make such art works remains a mystery especially their disappearance.
So there you have it, the top four mysterious places in Nigeria from the top to the least. If you're ever dubious about making findings in your country please don't. I'm sure some people would like to visit the shrine, it's a Nigerian thing, we go settle the matter very soon.
