Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:”
This scripture is concise, yet powerful, helping us know what God has given us in life. He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies. But to access these blessings and to keep walking in them, there are somethings required of us that we must do, and there are some things we ought not to do, else the ointment and impact of these blessings ceases to be expressed and experienced in our lives.
In this note, we’ll be looking at some of those things that may block or stop the flow of these blessings in our lives. The first of these is;
1). DISOBEDIENCE
Deuteronomy 28:15 “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:”
We see an example in the beginning of Deuteronomy 27, when God gave the children of Israel certain commands and instructions to be carried out, but showed them in the 1st to the 14th verses of the 28th chapter, the blessings that would follow the obeying of these commands all the days of their lives. These blessings that would follow them were outlined for them, only on the premise of their obedience. And the same is applicable to you and not as old testament believers, but as those already blessed, but doers of God’s Word today. Amen!

2). SIN
Romans 6:1 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?”
In the new testament of the Church under Jesus Christ, God does forgive sins. And He never holds anything against us. But watch what that verse says “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” That is a question. He is asking us, shall we continue living beyond the boundaries and expect grace to increase in our lives? Then he answered in the next verse by saying God forbid.
Meaning God dis-allows that we live sinfully. He puts a ban on it. This means that though God may forgive us, but no blessings of increase will come to us when we live in fornication, adultery or any sinful act as a normal life-style. Because that increase he talks about is His blessings over what we do.
But if it was a mistake, we can ask for forgiveness and keep walking in the righteousness of God given to us and receive his blessings.
3). LAZINESS
Proverbs 18:9 “He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.”
This is striking, but it is also enlightening and strengthening for the wise. A slothful person is the man or woman who is lazy. But being lazy isn’t the same as needing rest. But the difference between the man needing rest and the lazy man is that the lazy man is always unwilling to do work or make any effort. He doesn’t make any effort. He makes one effort, experiences disappointment and then refuses to act from then on, crippling his activities.

How does such a person receive any blessings from God? It isn’t possible, because the bible says He refuses to be productive, and our blessings comes through our productivity. Think about it.
4). GREED
Proverbs 11:24 “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.”
Greed keeps us from getting those blessings God has planned for us. He shows us with that scripture above, that it isn’t that to keep something for yourself is bad, but that to keep more than you should is where the trouble is. And if you’re to keep anything, you’re to keep it from what is your’s.
Sometimes, God asks us to give something to someone, but we refuse and cut it short. When we do that, we close the door of increase blessings, because the scripture says give, and it shall be given unto you, good measure….. running over, (i.e in increase) shall men give to your accounts also. But greed withholds the blessings and keeps us at a spot.

5). IGNORANCE
Acts 17:30 “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”
Ignorance is a danger that stops the blessings of God. A lot of people say “What you don’t know cannot kill you. But Jesus says ‘For my people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge.” Meaning that to know is of utmost Importance in order for us to get blessed.
It is what you know that changes your life, and what you do not know is why you remain at a certain level.
These things listed, if found in our lives, can stop the blessings of God from flowing into our life and keep us at a spot if we continually do them. I wish you God’s blessings as you change these things. Amen.
